F.L.I. Brightwater Applications and Technologies
Below are a selection of project profiles for
completed schemes. In
addition to the outline details given for each project it is possible
to view and download a PDF document giving a summary of the scheme by
clicking on the particular scheme name.
Membrane
Bio-Reactor - MBR
MEMBRIGHT®
|
Coill
Dubh
WwTW
Co.Kildare, Rep. of Ireland
|

|
The Membright® MBR plant treats sewage for a population equivalent of 2000
to meet a final effluent quality of 5/5/1 (BOD/SS/NH3-N). The plant
consists of 4 biological reactors, each containing 6 Membrane modules
using flat sheet membrane panels to provide ultra-filtration.
|
|
Ballinhassig
WwTW
Co. Cork
|

|
The Membright® MBR plant for Halfway/ Ballinhassig has been designed and
constructed for a future design poulation of 450. As the actual flows
and loads increase in phases as new housing is constructed, the plant
has been optimised for the initial lower levels of flow & load. The
final effluent quality required is 5/5/5/1 (BOD/SS/TN/P) which is
easily being achieved by the plant, which was installed in early 2005.
|
Biological
Aerated Flooded Filter - BAFF
BIOBEAD®
|
Beckley WwTW
Packaged BAFF Plant
Southern Water
|

|
The Beckley BAFF plant
treats sewage for a population equivalent of 1300 to meet a final
effluent consent of 10/20/3 (BOD/SS/NH3-N). In addition to the tight
consent the plant needed to fit on to the existing compact site. The
plant consists of 3 reactors tanks, each 3.5m by 1.95m in plan, with
the tanks supplied in packaged steel tank format. The plant has been
producing a 95%ile effluent better than 4/5/1.
|
|
Woolton WwTW
United Utilities
|

|
The Woolton BAFF plant
treats sewage for a population equivalent of 48,000 to meet a final
effluent quality of 10/20/2 (BOD/SS/NH3-N). The plant consists of 6
biological reactors, each 5.5m by 11.0m in plan.
|
Diffused
Aeration Systems
B220 FBDA
|
Rye
Meads STW
Thames Water
|

|
A total of 28,000 F.L.I.
Brightwater B220 EPDM Membrane Diffusers were installed as part
of the Rye Meads STW aeration project. The scheme involved the
refurbishment of 12 existing aeration lanes together with the
installation of new FBDA equipment in 2 new aeration lanes. F.L.I.
Brightwater's scope also included the air main pipework and valves.
|
|
Arroyo
Culebro WwTW
Madrid, Spain
|

|
The new works scheme
comprised two phases, Phase 1 with 6 lanes (3,960 diffusers) and Phase
2 with 16 lanes (24,000 diffusers). In addition to the supply of F.L.I.
Brightwater B220 EPDM Membrane Diffusers, the contract included
the supply of uPVC pipe laterals, headers, footers and pipe supports.
Off-site oxygen transfer efficiency (SOTE) testing successfully
demonstrated performance well above the client specification.
|
Submerged
Aerated Filter - SAF
HSAF®
|
Waddesdon STW
SS Packaged SAF
Thames Water
|

|
The HSAF®-M6 Package Plant was supplied to Thames Water on temporary
hire to support the existing treatment prior to a full works upgrade.
The temporary unit was configured for tertiary treatment following
existing percolating filters and upstream of the humus settlement.
|
|
Kilberry STW
GRP Packaged SAF
Co.Kildare, Republic of Ireland
|

|
The HSAF® Package Plant was supplied to treat the effluent from a
Horticultural Peat processing and packing plant. The HSAF® utilises a GRP treatment tank, which is installed below
ground level, and comprises 2 biological zones and a filter zone. In
addition, a second GRP tank is used to house inlet & outlet
holding/ pump sumps.
|
Moving
Bed Bio-Reactor - MBBR
MBBR
|
Landfill Site
UK
|
|
The F.L.I. Brightwater MBBR
plant operates on very high ammonia influents being located at a
landfill site to treat the landfill leachate. The single reactor steel
tank contains the mobile plastic ring media and the coarse bubble
aeration sparge, which provides continuous process air to the treatment
process.
|
Tertiary
Filtration
FILTABEAD®
|
Exmouth STW
South West Water
|

|
Exmouth STW utilises 5
Filtabead® tanks for tertiary filtration. The Filtabead® provides secure suspended solids removal as well as
featuring a low headloss across the unit. A F.L.I. Brightwater buoyant
plastic granular media is used for filtration, which can be readily
fluidised for periodic cleaning.
|
Induced
Air Flotation - IAF
Jameson Cell
|
Punchestown Racecourse
Co.Kildare, Rep. of Ireland
|

|
The Racecourse at
Punchestown experiences large fluctuations in effluent due to the
seasonality of the horse racing season. The Jameson Cell induced air
flotation plant is used to remove fats and greases prior to further
treatment.
|
Complete
WwTW Schemes
|

|

|
F.L.I. Brightwater worked as
Principle Partner in a JV with RJ McLeod Civil Engineering to design
and build the new greenfield treatment works overlooking Lochcarron in
the Western Highlands of Scotland.
